I use close observation of the natural world as a starting point for imagined plantscapes full of growth, weather, labour and other natural processes. My work is informed by ecological thinking: how we might broaden our ways of thinking about our place in the world and the relationship to our non-human others and how making can help imagine these new modes. My process combines etched lino with more traditional relief printing methods. drawing is fundamental to my practice and I also work with plant materials, earth and wool.
I began printmaking whilst living in East Africa. I worked for ten years in sustainable agriculture and food growing before turning to creative work full time and my work is strongly influenced by this previous land based career as well as an off grid upbringing in Pembrokeshire.
I have just finished an MA at Aberystwyth University and I have been a director of Aberystwyth Printmakers for four years. I work from my studio on the Welsh Borders and will be installing an Albion Press and opening for workshops in 2023.
