Imprinted Place: picturing labour and landscape in a changing environment

The heart of this project is exploring the role of creativity in engaging people in conversations about changes to the rural environment and their connection to farming landscapes.

Time will be spent gathering research through residencies: drawing the farming day and developing a visual language to depict the current realities of rural labour. The project will look at how artists have historically depicted rural life, and seek to develop new ways to picture farming for the current changes to nature and climate friendly practices.

Creative workshops and exhibitions will provide opportunities for groups to appreciate printmaking as an art form, spend time considering their own connection to the local landscape and translate this into artworks.

The project will also feed in to developing a future programme of artists’ residencies in agricultural settings.

Meet the artist printmaking drop-in

Bronygarth Orchard Garden and Temple Fields are part of the Agroforestry Open Weekend. Come along for a tour of the site and have a go at making a linocut. No need to book, this is a free event and materials are all provided.

When: Saturday 18th May 2pm until 4pm. Orchard tour 12 - 2pm.
